Chesapeake Gets New Drill Permit in Columbiana
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued another new horizontal drilling permit to Chesapeake Exploration LLC for Columbiana County, state records show.
ODNR reported that a horizontal permit was issued to Chesapeake Aug. 23 to drill on the Batzli property in Hanover Township. The Batzli permit is the 50th well permitted in Columbiana County since 2011.
Also, well permits were issued to Chesapeake for two sites in Carroll County, where most of the drilling in eastern Ohio has occurred. ODNR issued separate horizontal permits to Chesapeake to drill on the Elwood farm in Loudon Township and the Leeper Farm in Orange Township.
Thus far, 123 horizontal wells are permitted in Carroll County.
Chesapeake also received a permit to drill on the Addy farm in Harrison County, and two permits to drill on the Booth and Creamer properties in Jefferson County.
Gulfport Energy, which recently released peak production results from its Wagner well in Harrison County that surpassed Chesapeake's Buell well in that county, was awarded two new permits from ODNR to drill in Guernsey and Harrison counties.
