Youngstown Union Official Named to IBEW Council
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Jim Burgham, business manager for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 64 in Youngstown, was appointed to the eight-person IBEW International Executive Council, effective this month.
Burgham, of Poland, represents District 3, comprised of Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana and Michigan. He is the first local officer to hold this position.
“It’s an honor to represent our area and have a voice on a national level,” Burgham said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to having input on issues that affect the entire IBEW membership.”
The IEC comprises seven U.S. districts and one in Canada. Its duties include matters related to pension, retirement benefits, constitutional amendments and local union membership matters.
Burgham has been an IBEW member for 33 years, including 27 years as an officer and 18 as business manager. His business manager role with Local 64 will not change.
