Youngstown Approves $50K to Aid SalesKatz Expansion
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A $50,000 performance grant to help SalesKatz Inc. expand and add staff was approved Thursday by the city’s board of control.
SalesKatz, formerly based in Cleveland, moved into the Youngstown Business incubator last year. The company develops customer relationship management software. “It’s something that a lot of businesses are going to,” said Tom DeAngelo, city economic development coordinator. “It assists salespersons when they’re trying to look up leads in a database, and filters them out according to specific parameters that they’re looking for.”
The company, which has six full-time employees, plans to add 40 full-time employees over three years, DeAngelo. The jobs all pay above the average income in the city.
The company had requested $100,000 to subsidize the $577,000 project but last month the Youngstown Initiative committee halved the grant due to lack of funds for the program. In fact, grants for SalesKatz and DNV Energy LLC, an offshoot of Youngstown Pipe and Supply Co., were the last initiative grants approved for the year unless other funds for the program are obtained or freed up by the city (READ STORY).
