Uncle Jim’s Launches ‘Mustard Madness’ Promotion
WARREN, Ohio -- Uncle Jim’s Foods brings its own brand of “March Madness” to the Mahoning Valley this month with “Mustard Madness.” During the month, Uncle Jim's will roll out its own nationwide tournament of mustard recipes to see which recipe will reign supreme.
The regional rounds will begin when surprise boxes with all three flavors of Farmer Jim’s pepper mustards and sealed envelopes with the competing recipes arrive at customers' doors. The regions include Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan and Indiana. Competitors will hit their kitchens for “games” that consist of two original recipes facing off against one another. Recipes were submitted by Uncle Jim’s pepper mustard fans, called MustardHeads, and include at least one of the Uncle Jim’s flavors in the ingredients.
Teams of tasters across the United States will evaluate each recipe and determine the winners who will move on in the brackets, moving from the Succulent 16 to the Edible Eight. Local Ohio fans will join the competition and further eliminate losing recipes to round out the Final Foodie Four.
“In all seriousness, March Madness is about celebrating the hard work and dedication athletes put into their dreams of reaching the top spot in their sport. They inspire athletes everywhere,” said Jim Scher, owner and founder of Uncle Jim’s Foods. “We just want to inspire a little fun in the kitchens across the country.”
Celebrity chefs and Valley favorites, Danny Catullo of Catullo’s Prime Meats and Frank Occhibove of Jimmy’s Italian Foods will prepare the Final Foodie Four recipes to determine the winners in the last face-off before the championship.
“We love supporting our Valley’s best, especially our small business owners,” Scher said. “We are thrilled to have Frank and Danny join in the madness. The caliber of their talent far exceeds the seriousness of this event.”
The Culinary Championship will be held April 5 at Champion Beach House, where the last recipes standing will be prepared for this final competition to complete the bracket for the Best MustardHead Recipe for 2014.
