Two Girls Clothing Store Opens Downtown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Dan and Kim Mitchell have found a perfect match for their Two Guys, and they didn't have to look far.
The owners of the men's clothing store at 20 Federal Place hosted a grand opening Monday for their second boutique, Two Girls Clothing, in the concourse.
"We've had a lot of success with Two Guys Clothing, and we decided now's the time [to open another store], said Dan Mitchell.
The Mitchells purchased Two Guys in 2007 and relocated the business from an older building on West Federal Street to 20 Federal Place two years ago. Since then, he reports, business has increased substantially, helped by workers at VXI Global Solutions, a large call center on the fourth and fifth floors of 20 Federal Place.
"We made sure we were rock solid with Two Guys and said let's jump into this," he said.
The new retail store leases 1,100 square feet of space that once was home to Café Kim's and has been vacant about 15 years. He said the space was totally renovated by friends and family members.
"I have a vision that this is going to be big," Mitchell noted. "We've done our homework, and there's not a lot of women's clothing in the downtown area."
Mitchell said the food court at 20 Federal Place also draws others from the downtown for lunch, giving the store exposure.
"We're just starting small," added Kim Mitchell, who sources most of the products from distributors in Chicago and Las Vegas.
The new shop sells dresses, casual wear, shoes and accessories to women of all ages and tastes, she said, noting that many of the specialty stores in nearby malls do not carry the same brands or merchandise. "They don't have the stock we have here."
Sean McKinney, Youngstown commissioner of building and grounds, said that the city is appreciative of the retailer's expansion. "We've been able to set up a deal where this is the only women's store in the downtown area," he said.
The store is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
