Sweeney Seeks Votes on Operation Santa Claus
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC invites the public to help select this year’s beneficiaries of Operation Santa Claus. The dealership has selected five local organizations as finalists, two of which will receive this year’s “big gift.”
This year’s finalists are the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, Angels for Animals, the Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown and the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign of Mahoning County. Through 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31, individuals can vote one time per day at this website for the organization of their choice.
“Last year, our donations totaled over $20,000. Our goal is to raise awareness and donate a total of $30,000 to the charities with the most votes. Each one of these finalist organizations do great work in our community,” said Doug Sweeney, president of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC.
Each of the two Sweeney dealerships will be assigned one of the two selected charities, and for every new vehicle sold from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, they will make a $50 donation to that organization. Last year, for example, for every new Buick or GMC sold at Sweeney, a $50 donation went to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign; for every new Chevy sold, a $50 donation when to the Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown.
