Quaker Steak to Open 11 Restaurants This Year
SHARON, Pa. -- Quaker Steak & Lube has opened a casual dining franchise in Lakewood, Ohio, its 50th restaurant, says John Longstreet, president and CEO. The company is on track to open 10 additional restaurants this year, he says.
The restaurant chain will expand to six new markets with five franchise groups over the next several years, Longstreet says.
"Over the past six months, we signed agreements to develop 11 new restaurants around the country, including three corporate locations in Texas," the CEO says. "We're extremely excited to introduce more guests to our unique motorsports-themed dining experience."
Most recently, an agreement was signed with Blue Sky Development LLC to develop three franchised restaurants in Fargo, N.D., and Rapid City and Sioux Falls, S.D. Quaker Steak also announced plans to develop a new franchised restaurant in Waco, Texas, this fall, three corporate-owned restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth by 2014, and an area development agreement for three franchised restaurants throughout Philadelphia over the next several years. And restaurants are planned to open later this year in New Jersey, Kentucky, South Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Longstreet said.
Collectively, Quaker Steak serves more than 80 million wings annually along with burgers, ribs, steaks, salads, sandwiches, kid’s meals, and signature beverages, the company says.
Founded in 1974 and built in an abandoned gas station here, the original Quaker Steak & Lube began as a cook-your-own steak restaurant.
