Quaker Steak & Lube Names Lippert Its New CEO
SHARON, Pa. -- Quaker Steak & Lube announced this morning that is has appointed a new CEO effective immediately. Greg Lippert, a 30-year industry veteran, has served as CEO of Mazzio's LLC since 2005.
Lippert replaces John Longstreet, who announced in January that he was stepping down as CEO. Frederal Dreibholz, chief financial officer, had served as interim CEO until Lippert’s appointment.
At Mazzio's, Lippert directed Mazzio's, Zio's Italian Kitchen Brands and recently introduced the Oliveto Italian Bistro to the portfolio of restaurants. He has extensive experience in restaurant leadership, operations and marketing and has served on restaurant industry boards and community volunteer boards.
"Greg is a proven visionary leader, and we're excited to have him join The Lube," said Debra Koenig, chairman of the board. " As we embark on our 40th anniversary, adding a leader like Greg to our team will be instrumental to our continued growth and profitability. His skill set and insight into the restaurant industry will help propel our national expansion to both new and existing markets."
The Lube has projected 11 restaurant openings this year and recently opened a store in Warren, Ohio. Another restaurant opens today in Edison, N.J. The remainder will open throughout 2014 in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Texas, with restaurants also debuting in Louisiana, Michigan and Nebraska.
"I look forward to working with our leadership team and franchisee community to help further drive the company's growth and keep the brand at the forefront of the highly competitive casual dining sector," Lippert said in a prepared statement. "The brand has a loyal customer base that has become attractive to the millennial generation."
Prior to joining Mazzio's, Lippert served as chief concept officer and CEO of Fazoli's Management Inc. He launched his career at The Procter and Gamble Co. and The Seven-Up Co.
Since it was founded in 1974 and built in an abandoned gas station here, Quaker Steak & Lube has expanded to more than 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada.
