Pa. Casino Revenues Drop in May
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The drop in slot machine revenue at casinos within Pennsylvania during May was less than 1% compared to May 2013. The 12 casinos produced slot machine revenues of $210.8 million, 0.2% less than in May of last year.
Those revenues resulted in $112.8 million in taxes to the state treasury, an average of $3.6 million in taxes per day, says the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Revenues dropped at two casinos in western Pennsylvania: Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh dropped 1.84% to just under $24 million and Presque Isle Downs and Casino fell 6.82% to $11.1 million.
The average number of slot machines in operation every day the 12 casinos was also slightly higher during May, 26,417 compared to 25,973 a year earlier. The primary difference in the number of slot machines was the operation of Lady Luck Casino, a site not open last May.
