November New Vehicle Sales Rise 8.8% in Valley
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of new cars and trucks climbed 8.8% among dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties during November compared to last year, the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported Monday.
The ADEAO monthly survey shows that 1,887 new vehicles rolled out of showrooms during November versus 1,733 sold during the same period in 2012.
Topping the list of big sellers in the Valley is the Chevrolet Cruze, General Motors Co.'s small car manufactured at its Lordstown Complex. Dealers reported that they sold 141, far more than the next-best seller, the Chevrolet Equinox with 98 sales.
The Ford F-150 was the third-highest seller with 78, the Chevrolet Malibu was the fourth-best with 73, and the Ford Escape was the fifth-best seller in terms of volume with 66 units sold.
The top new-car dealers as measured by volume were Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 112 units; Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, 102; Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep 92; Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, also sold 92; and Taylor Kia of Boardman, 86.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles were also slightly ahead of last year, ADEAO reports.
Last month, new and used dealers said they sold a combined 4,931 vehicles compared to 4,844 sold a year earlier, an improvement of 1.7%.
