New Vehicle Sales in Valley Up 9% in October
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In October, sales of new cars and trucks in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were 9.2% higher than October 2011, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio's monthly report.
Dealers in the Mahoning Valley reported they sold 1,982 new vehicles versus 1,815 sold during the same month a year ago.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles were also better than year-ago numbers.
The Automobile Dealers Association said its members sold 5,490 used and new vehicles in October while 5,049 were sold in October of last year, an 8.7% jump.
The Chevrolet Cruze was the best-selling new model among local showrooms with 119 sold, ADEAO reported. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck posted the second-highest sales with 81; the Ford F-150 was third-best with 76; the Chevrolet Equinox sold 68 new units, while 62 Ford Escapes rolled out of showrooms.
Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Austintown, posted the best sales for the month with 131 new cars and trucks. Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, sold 125 new vehicles, Taylor Kia of Boardman reported 117 new sales, and Sweeney Chevrolet of Boardman said it sold 96 new cars and trucks.
Rounding up the top five highest volume dealers was Fairway Ford, Canfield, which reported 91 new vehicles sold.
