Los Gallos Opens Downtown Youngstown Location
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The manager of the newest Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant reports business at the local chain’s newest location is meeting expectations.
Israel Zambrano, the chain’s owner, announced Monday that the new Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant and Sports Cantina is open for business, following a soft opening last week. The downtown restaurant, the seventh Los Gallos location, is in the space formerly occupied by Café Cimmento.
Zambrano “loves Youngstown. He loves the people around. He just thought it was a good idea to come here and open a place,” said Manny Flores, manager of the downtown restaurant and an employee of the company for five years.
Business is good so far and meeting expectations, Flores said. “Lunches are great. People around here are just great,” he said.
According to a statement issued by the company, the downtown location will feature Los Gallos’ authentic atmosphere, wide assortment of margaritas, an extensive patio and entertainment. It will open at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday for lunch and close later in the evening at the cantina.
So far, evening business has been light as word spreads that the restaurant is open, Flores said.
Zambrano also announced the temporary closing of the Struthers location for what was described as an “extensive remodeling” to convert it to an entertainment center and cantina. The pool tables will return to the main level as well as darts and electronic games with a full bar and limited menu. The lower level, known as The Cellar, will remain open for concerts featuring local, regional and national acts.
