Local Auto Dealers Report Better Sales in March
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --Sales for new cars and trucks improved 4.5% for auto dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in March compared to the same period last year, according to the latest report from the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
ADEAO's monthly survey shows that area showrooms sold 2,694 new vehicles last month compared to 2,577 a year earlier.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles were also better in March 2014 than the previous year. Dealers reported they sold 7,332 new and used vehicles during the month, a 7% increase compared to March 2013, when 6,853 were sold.
The Chevrolet Cruze topped the list of new models sold for the month with 298. The Chevrolet Equinox was second with 182 units sold; the Chevrolet Malibu was the third-best seller with 144 sold; the GMC Terrain had the fourth-highest sales at 133; and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck saw sales of 101 units.
Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, turned in the most new vehicle sales among local dealers with 202 sold; Sweeney Chevrolet and Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, sold 164 and 155 new vehicles respectively; Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, sold 142 new cars and trucks; while Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Austintown sold 132 new units.
