Hearing Nov. 15 on Carbon Limestone Landfill Expansion
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A draft permit to expand the Carbon Limestone Landfill in Poland Township will be the reason for a public meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 hosted by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The company is requesting a lateral and vertical expansion of its solid-waste landfill at 8100 S. Stateline Road.
If issued, the permit would allow Carbon Limestone to expand laterally by 73 acres and vertically over 264 acres of existing landfill, allowing for an additional 47 million cubic yards of capacity. The maximum waste the landfill can receive would remain 11,000 tons per day.
The information session and public hearing will take place at the Poland Township Administration Building, 3339 Dobbins Road, Poland.
The meeting will allow citizens to ask questions and submit comments about the permit Carbon Limestone seeks. Comments may be presented at the hearing or submitted in writing to Ohio EPA, DMWM-PRMU, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, 43216-1049. The public comment period ends Nov. 26.
A copy of the draft permit and related materials are available for review at Ohio EPA’s Northeast District Office in Twinsburg by calling 330 963 1200.
