GM Reports Record November Sales for Cruze
DETROIT -- The Chevrolet Cruze saw its best November since being introduced in 2008, General Motors Co. said today in its monthly sales report.
The Lordstown-made Cruze sold 22,857 units last month, a 25.6% increase from November 2013. So far this year, 255,260 Cruzes have been sold, compared to 230,062 during the same period last year.
GM also said its American dealers delivered 225,818 vehicles last month for its best November since 2007 and total sales were 6% higher than a year ago. Chevrolet's best-seller, the Silverado, shipped 42,799 units, a 24.5% increase from November 2013.
Sales for all of the company's brands increased last month, Buick sales up 27% from November 2013 and sales of GMC trucks up 23%.
Chrysler Group -- which owns Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Fiat -- reports its November sales rose 20% from last year to 170,839 vehicles. It was the company's best November since 2001 and the 56th consecutive month of year-over-year increases.
Sales of Jeeps rose 27% as the SUV had its best November in history. Total Chrysler sales rose 30% attributed to a huge boost from the redesigned 200, which won numerous “Best Of” awards last month. Sales of the Dodge brand were “up slightly year-over-year,” the company reported, but still represent the best November since 2007.
Meanwhile, November sales at the Ford Motor Co. dropped 2% from the same period last year, selling 187,000 vehicles. The decrease was expected, the company said in its monthly report, because the company managed its inventory levels in anticipation of the arrival of the 2015 Mustang, F-150 and Transit. Sales of Lincolns rose 21% as the luxury brand shipped 8,113 units in November.
