Flynn’s Opens 19th Store, a ‘Mini-Flynn’s,’ in Niles
NILES, Ohio -- Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service opened its 19th store, a “Mini-Flynn’s,” at 5828B Youngstown-Warren Road Monday. The site lies within the Eastwood Mall complex.
The outlet, next door to an Advanced Auto Parts store, houses five service bays and a customer waiting area and was designed “for convenient tire service as well as auto repair and maintenance services,” said store manager Ian Snyder.
“This is a new concept for Flynn’s,” he noted. “Speed and efficiency within a reduced footprint are our goal.”
The outlet, he said, is staffed by “experienced technicians” and a nearby Flynn’s Wholesale site supplies the outlet “several times a day.”
The opening of the store coincides to the day with the opening of the first Flynn’s 50 years ago when the grandfather, father and uncle of the president, Joe Flynn III, joined together to open the business in Mercer County, Pa. The company remains based in West Middlesex, Pa.
Said Flynn III, in a prepared statement, “I am excited about our new Niles store. We’ve wanted to expand in this market for some time new. This ‘Mini-Flynn’s’ gives us the opportunity to increase our market share by using a smaller store model.”
Flynn reminisced about July 14, 1964.
“My grandfather, father and uncle would be proud to know how far Flynn’s has come since that first store where there were no bays at all. They had to install tires outdoors in the driveway using the jack from the car they were putting tires on. Then they took the new mounted tires to the neighboring gas station to be balanced on their machine," he recalled.
In addition to its 19 stores in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, Flynn's Tire Group operates Flynn’s Wholesale Tires with four warehouses, five Flynn's Commercial Tire service centers, a retread tire facility for commercial truck tires and wheel conditioning plant in Dover, Ohio.
