Davis Named Manager of Novelis Plant in Warren
ATLANTA -- Lee Davis has been named plant manager of the Novelis plant in Warren, Ohio. Workers at the plant, opened in 1965, apply coatings to rolled aluminum sheet used for the production of lids of aluminum beverage cans.
Davis succeeds Mark Tichenor, who was named plant manager of the Novelis plant in Berea, Ky., earlier this year.
Davis, who has more than 20 years of experience, has served as technology leader of casting and metal treatment for Novelis since April 2005. In this role, he led a team across 10 Novelis sites to increase the efficiency of casting processes and improve molten metal safety. Before joining Novelis, Davis held roles at Wagstaff Inc. and Alcoa Inc.
He holds a baccalaureate in metallurgical engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, a master’s degree in applied behavioral science from Bastyr University in Washington state and a doctorate in metallurgical and materials engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
“Lee’s industry experience and technical background make him a great asset to our Warren team,” said Tom Walpole, senior vice president of Novelis and president, Novelis North America. “I know he will provide strong leadership to guide the Warren team.”
Each month, he noted, the Warren plant coats enough sheet for more than one billion can lids.
In fiscal 2012, Novelis operated in 11 countries, had more than 11,000 employees and reported revenues of $11.1 billion. Novelis is a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Ltd., one of Asia's largest integrated producers of aluminum and a leading copper producer. Hindalco is the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, a multinational conglomerate based in Mumbai, India.
