Cruze Sales Soar Among Mahoning Valley Buyers
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze skyrocketed in September among customers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, according to the latest report from the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
ADAEO, which gathers sales data from new and used car dealerships in the three-county region, reports that 255 Cruzes were sold during the month compared to just 83 sold during the same period last year -- a 207% increase.
Overall sales of new vehicles in the region increased 18.6% in September compared to year-ago sales, according to the report. Dealerships said they sold a total of 2,853 new cars and trucks in September versus 2,405 during the same month in 2013.
Sales of new and used vehicles also increased in September, ADAEO said. Sales of new and used vehicles stood at 6,705 units for the month compared to 5,865 sold last year.
Chevrolet continues to be the best-selling brand in the Mahoning Valley, accounting for the top four of five nameplates for new vehicle sales in the region. The Equinox was the second-best seller with 122 sales; the Silverado 1500 pickup truck proved the third best-selling model with 108 sold; and the Malibu recorded 107 new sales.
The Ford Escape proved the fifth-best seller in the region with 84 sales, ADAEO reported.
Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, recorded the most new vehicle sales with 176; Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Fiat, Austintown, sold 166 new units; Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, reported 159 new sales; Preston Toyota, Boardman, said it sold 146 new vehicles; and Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, reported 137 new sales.
