Cortland Banks Offices Accepting Red Cross Donations
CORTLAND, Ohio – Cortland Banks has joined the Mahoning Valley chapter of the American Red Cross and is serving as a donation center for funds the Red Cross will spend on disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Residents may donate at any of the 13 offices of Cortland Banks in Mahoning, Trumbull, Portage, Ashtabula and Geauga counties.
Those who would like to donate may deposit cash or write checks to the American Red Cross, said Karen Conklin, executive director of the Mahoning Valley chapter. They should earmark their donations for the Disaster Relief account. "This disaster is expected to exceed the financial devastation of Katrina, reaching the billion-dollar mark,” Conklin said.
The goal for the local American Red Cross chapter is $100,000, Conklin noted.
Besides money, the Red Cross is asking for people to donate blood because so many blood drives along the East Coast were canceled in the aftermath of the storm. To learn when and where the next local blood donation will take place, call 800 RedCross.
