Community Foundation of Mahoning Valley Hires 3
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has added three staff members, Linda Kostka, Casey Bertolette and Janet Byrne. They are filling positions created after three previous posts became vacant earlier this year.
Kostka was named coordinator of development and donor services, Bertolette coordinator of supporting organizations and grant-making, and Byrne office manager.
“We have an impressive new team with excellent experience and skills,” said Shari Harrell, Community Foundation president, in a prepared statement. “This gives us a golden opportunity to elevate our role as a leading advocate for philanthropy and good works in the Mahoning Valley.”
In leading fundraising and donor relations activities, Kostka brings nearly 20 years of fundraising experience, most recently as director of development for the Mill Creek Metropolitan Park District. Before joining the park district, Kostka was regional director of development for Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio. She holds a baccalaureate in business administration from Youngstown State University.
Bertolette will coordinate grant awards and the foundation’s work with its three supporting organizations, the Western Reserve Health Foundation, the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation and the William Swanston Charitable Fund. Most recently, she was development director at Beatitude House in Youngstown where she led fundraising and public relations. Bertolette earned her baccalaureate at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., and sits on the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Mahoning/Shenango Chapter.
As office manager, Byrne is responsible for administrative functions. She was most recently executive administrative assistant at the former First Place Bank where she served more than 30 years in various administrative and support positions.
The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley manages donor assets, distributes grants and supports philanthropy. With its affiliates, the foundation holds nearly $45 million in assets and distributed nearly $1 million during its last fiscal year.
