Cattron-Theimeg Confirms Move to Delphi Site
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Laird Technologies confirmed this morning, as reported yesterday, that it will move its Sharpsville, Pa.-based wireless automation and control business to Warren. The move is planned to begin this spring and be completed by early summer, the company said in a news release.
The Business Journal reported on its website Wednesday that Catrron-Theimeg Inc., which does business as Laird, would announce the move today.
Laird will relocate to the former Delphi building at 655 N. River Road, according to Sarah Boyarko, vice president of economic development, North America, for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. The chamber worked with Laird for about a year.
Laird, in the news release, said it had outgrown the Sharpsville facility, where it has 150 employees and the relocation to Warren will permit “significant job growth, updated work stations and equipment,” along with other added benefits of a larger plant.
“We are excited about the future opportunities in Warren,” said Rick Morse, senior vice president and general manager for Laird. “As we focus on providing innovation, reliable fulfillment and speed to our customers, this move helps us meet these goals through greater operational efficiency with the additional space.” He also expressed appreciation to the Sharpsville community for hosting Cattron and helping the company build a strong team over the past 65 years.
Catrron-Theimeg Inc. manufactures remote-control products and aftermarket services for the mining, commercial, mobile, railroad and other industrial markets. The company considered sites in Ohio and Pennsvlvania.
In January, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 55%, nine-year job creation tax credit for Cattron-Theimeg, which expects to create 55 full-time equivalent employees and $3 million in payroll in addition to the company’s $9.5 million payroll. The agreement calls for the company to maintain operations at the Warren project location for at least 12 years.
Both the city of Warren and the Regional Chamber expressed their support for the project in letters submitted to the tax credit authority in January.
