Area Auto Dealers See Sales Jump 5.5% in July
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auto dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties saw an increase in sales during July, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio's monthly report.
Auto dealers in the region reported sales of new cars and trucks during the month were 5.5% higher than a year earlier, as showrooms sold 2,110 vehicles versus 1,999 in July 2011.
Sales of new and used vehicles were also slightly better than the previous year, as dealers posted combined sales of 5,392 vehicles compared to 5,179 in July 2011, a 4% increase.
The best-selling model for the month was the Chevrolet Impala with 86 sold, ADEAO reported. The second-highest seller for the month was the Ford F-150 with 77 sold, the third-best was the Chevrolet Silverado with 68 units sold, the fourth-best seller was the Chevrolet Malibu with 66 sold, and the fifth-best was the Ford Taurus with 59 sales.
Bob and Chuck Eddy Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Austintown sold the most new vehicles in July with 143 sold, ADEAO reports. Second was Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 130 sold, while Taylor Kia of Boardman posted the third-best sales with 115 new vehicles sold.
Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, reported 103 new-vehicle deals closed during the month, while Fairway Ford, Canfield, recorded the fifth-best new auto sales with 86 sold.
