Arby’s Anniversary Events to Benefit Second Harvest
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. will kick off the celebration of the roast beef sandwich chain’s founding 50 years ago in the Mahoning Valley with a promotion to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
On July 23, 2014, Forrest and Leroy Raffel opened their first Arby’s restaurant in Boardman. The chain, now based in Atlanta, has grown to nearly 3,400 restaurants nationwide.
To mark its 50th anniversary, local Arby’s restaurants, in partnership with the Arby’s Foundation, will host a “Buy One Give One” offer July 21-25, during which the restaurants will donate a meal to the food bank for each meal purchased.
Additionally, 10% of sales July 23 will be donated to the food bank. The Arby’s Foundation mobile tour truck will be at the Arby’s restaurant at 4321 Mahoning Ave. N.W., in Warren, that day with games and activities for families.
Also on July 23, top corporate executives from Arby’s Restaurant Group plan to meet with reporters at the company’s Warren restaurant, 4321 Mahoning Ave. NW, where Arby’s new restaurant remodel design will be unveiled.
After testing various design alternatives in 2013 and early 2014, Arby’s is now planning to remodel at least 30 company-owned restaurants this year in the Youngstown area, Alabama, Indiana and Utah. Architectural plans were released to franchisees in June. The company says it plans to significantly expand the number of remodels in 2015.
