Akron-Canton Airport Gets Perfect Score from FAA
GREEN, Ohio -- The Akron-Canton Airport recently achieved a perfect score on the Federal Aviation Administration's Code of Federal Regulations Part 139 Airfield Safety Inspection. All U.S. airports that offer commercial airline service are evaluated annually.
The process involves pre-inspection reviews, administrative meetings, inspections of aircraft rescue and firefighting facilities, airfield movement areas (like runways and taxiways), fueling facilities, night operations and administrative briefings, said Rick McQueen, airport president and CEO.
"We have a very strong operations and field maintenance team," he noted. "They pay close attention to detail and deliver exceptional service to our airline partners."
The airport's airfares are the 15th average lowest in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Southwest Airlines begins nonstop service to Washington, D.C., Reagan National Airport and Ft. Myers, Fla., on Nov. 2.
