Airport Seeks Responses to United Airlines Survey
VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A survey being conducted to help lure service from United Airlines to Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport has elicited more than 600 responses in advance of Friday’s deadline, airport officials report.
“Even with this outstanding response, we believe there may be data not received due to some “glitches” with the survey, said Dan Dickten, the airport’s director of aviation. This results from "some of the surveys being forwarded or emailed to other than the intended original recipients,”
The information is needed for United Airlines to ascertain local demand for regular passenger service, with an emphasis on business travelers. “It will be a very important factor in United’s decision making for air service here in the Youngstown-Warren-Sharon region,” DI\ickten said.
Asked how likely their organizations would be to encourage use of a connecting itinerary from the regional airport via Chicago O’Hare Airport, where United is proposing service from, to a destination accessible by non-stop flights from Cleveland or Pittsburgh, 50.38% of the 530 respondents to the question answered very likely and another 30.8% responded likely.
So far, Pittsburgh International Airport is the airport of choice for travelers responding to the survey, with 54.35% of respondents listing it as the airport they use most often. Akron-Canton Regional Airport is the survey respondents' second choice, with 21.66% they use it most often, edging out Cleveland Hopkins with 21.39%. Youngstown-Warren was used most often by 13.87% of respondents.
The emailed surveys were targeted to specific individuals, and when those were circulated to others, the survey may have “glitched” and retained answers from previous respondents. “There were a few reports from people who were in the process of taking the survey that noticed there were answers and information already in the answer fields or received a notice that the survey had already been used. This may have caused people to not complete the survey,” Dickten said.
Individuals interested in taking the survey are urged to visit the airport’s website or Facebook page and complete the survey there.
