Valley House Sales Show Mixed Results in May
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Home sales declined during May in Mahoning and Trumbull counties compared to May 2013, while Columbiana County sales were up, monthly data released by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors shows.
Sales totaled 202 single-family units in May in Mahoning County, down from 239 a year earlier and on par with April’s 201 sold. In Trumbull County, the 138 houses sold in May is down from 161 a year earlier and down from the 151 sold in April. In Columbiana County, May’s 73 units sold surpassed the 60 sold a year earlier and the 61 sold in April.
The total value of houses sold in Mahoning County during May hit $20.4 million, down from the $23.5 million total in May 2013 but up from April’s $18.5 million. Trumbull County’s $11.7 million in sales last month was down from $14.5 million a year earlier and from April’s $12.8 million. Columbiana County’s $6.6 million total was up from $5.8 million a year earlier but down from April’s nearly $6.7 million.
Mahoning County’s average sale price of $101,643 in May was up from $98,498 a year earlier and from April’s $92,129. In Trumbull County, May’s average sale price of $84,922 was down from $90,194 a year earlier but up slightly from April’s $84,74. In Columbiana County, the average selling price in May was $77,900, down from May 2013’s $97,381 and from April’s $109,652.
In Mahoning County, sale prices in May ranged from $3,250 to $328,000. In Columbiana County, the price range was $7,000 to $252,500. Trumbull County’s sale prices ranged between $8,000 and $285,000.
