Valley House Sales Experience January Chill
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of houses in Mahoning and Trumbull counties in January chilled compared to December’s numbers, while Trumbull and Columbiana counties posted sales numbers up from January 2013, reports the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
In January, 109 houses were sold in Trumbull County, down from 151 in December but up from 96 in January 2013. In Mahoning County, 123 units were sold in January, down from 176 a month earlier and from January 2013’s 141. Columbiana County’s 51 units sold in January were up slightly from the 50 sold in January 2013 and up from December’s 47.
The total dollar volume for houses sold in Mahoning County was $11.3 million, down from just under $13 million in January 2013 and more substantially from December’s $15.9 million. In Trumbull County, dollar volume hit $8.9 million in January, up from $6.6 million a year earlier but down from December’s $12.2 million. In Columbiana County, Dollar volume was $4.8 million in January, about what it was in December and up from $4.3 million in January 2013.
The average sale price of a house in January was $93,946 in Columbiana County, up from $86,493 a year earlier but down from $102,120 in December. In Mahoning County, the January average sale price was $91,495, down from $92,197 a year earlier but up from December’s $90,153. Trumbull County’s average sale price in January was $79,398, up from $68,994 a year earlier but down slightly from $80,428 in December 2013.
Sale prices ranges from $7,000 to $289,000 in Columbiana County, $3,000 to $725,000 in Mahoning County, and $4,510 to $635,000 in Trumbull County.
