Unit Sales, Dollar Volume Up in 3 Counties
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The number of homes sold during September in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties was up nearly 24% from a year earlier, and the total paid for those homes sold was up by more $12 million, or more than a third, over the same period, monthly statistics released Monday show. Unit sales for the month were on par with August’s, while dollar volume was up more than $1.7 million.
Combined sales in the three counties last month totaled 451 units, up from 372 in September 2012 and up one from August’s 460, the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors reported. In Mahoning County, 205 homes were sold, up from 174 a year earlier but down from August’s 216. In Trumbull County, 174 units were sold, compared with 133 a year earlier and 163 in August. In Columbiana County, sales in September totaled 82, one better than August’s 81 and improved from September 2012’s 65.
A $5.95 million gain in Mahoning County accounted for nearly half of the $12 million increase in dollar volume over the year for the three counties last month. In September, dollar sales volume totaled $24.24 million, up from $18.28 million a year earlier and up from $21.22 million in August. In Trumbull County, sales volume for September totaled $15.16 million, up from $11.45 million a year earlier but down from $15.79 million in August. Columbiana County’s dollar volume totaled $7.69 million last month, up from $5.35 million a year earlier but down from August’s $8.34 million.
In Mahoning County, the highest sale price for a home last month was $985,000, with the average sale price $118,224 and the lowest sale price $7,000. In Trumbull County, the maximum sale price last month was $430,000, with an average sale price of $87,112 and the low $800. Columbiana County’s top sale price in September was $535,000, the average $93,797 and the lowest price $7,350.
