Sweet to Retire from Boards of UCFC, Home Savings
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- David C. Sweet, former president of Youngstown State University, has informed the boards of United Community Financial Corp. and its subsidiary, The Home Savings and Loan Co., that he will not seek re-election as a director and retire just before the next annual meeting of UCFC.
UCFC announced Sweet’s decision Monday afternoon.Sweet’s most recent three-year terms expire this year. He has served 11 years on both boards.

Particularly in his role over the past five years as the chairman of our compliance and risk-management committee, Dr. Sweet’s guidance, relentless support and encouragement of our efforts to improve the risk management practices of the company contributed directly to the successful termination of all our past regulatory orders and agreements.”
