PNC Introduces Apple Pay Service
PITTSBURGH -- PNC Bank now offers its customers access to Apple Pay, a new service for mobile payments, the bank announced Tuesday. Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and is compatible with iPad Air2 and iPad mini 3.
When a customer adds his credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the card numbers are not stored on the device or Apple servers, officials said.
Instead, a unique account number is assigned, encrypted and stored on the customer's device, said Henry Fulton, retail assets executive at PNC. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time dynamic security code instead of the security code from the back of the card.
