Pa. Table Games Up in March, Slots Down
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Revenue from the play of table games at casinos in the commonwealth rose 1% during March, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Wednesday. This produced the highest level of revenue, $67.9 million, since the introduction of this form of gambling in July 2010.
Total revenue from table games and slot machines, however, dropped 4.2% to $284,148,717 year over year. Officials attribute the drop to a 5.7% decrease in slot machine revenue last month.
Revenue from table games surpassed the previous high month during March of last year at $67,383,247, says the Gaming Control Board.
Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh, grossed $6,136,161 last month compared with $6,740,040 a year earlier. This year, the casino has 113 tables versus 114 last year.
At Presque Isle Downs in Erie, gross revenue last month was $1,148,561 compared to $1,304,655 in March 2013. The casino had 46 tables both years.
