Mahoning Valley Home Sales Down in September
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The number of homes sold in the area during September dropped sharply from August, but kept pace with a year ago, reports the Mahoning-Columbiana Association of Realtors.
September home sales totaled 174 in Mahoning County, down from 215 in August, while Trumbull County sales fell from 168 in August to 133 last month, according to monthly statistics released Wednesday. Columbiana County’s September sales of 66 houses was off from 83 in August.
Still, the September sales numbers were comparable to a year earlier. In September 2011, Mahoning’s sales totaled 171, Trumbull’s 132 and Columbiana’s 65.
In terms of dollar volume, Mahoning’s September sales totaled $18.28 million, down from August’s $20.52 million but up from $17.08 million in September 2011. Trumbull’s $11.45 million total in September was up from $10.28 million a year earlier but off from August’s $13.79 million. In Columbiana County, last month sales reached $5.39 million, up slightly from $5.35 million a year ago but down from August’s $7.43 million.
The average sale price in Mahoning County during September was $105,075, up from $95,438 in August and from $99,882 in September 2011. Trumbull’s average selling price last month was also improved, $86,116, up from $77,875 a year earlier and from $82,102 in August. In Columbiana the average sale price dropped, to $81,708, down from $89,536 in August and from $82,257 from a year earlier.
Sale prices in September ranged from $1,000 to $1.24 million in Mahoning County, from $4,300 to $390,000 in Trumbull County, and from $4,840 to $290,000 in Columbiana County.
