Home Savings Supports YWCA’s Artists Exhibit
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Home Savings Charitable Foundation presented a check for $10,000 to the YWCA of Youngstown Wednesday to help fund the YW’s 32nd annual Women Artists: A Celebration. The director of the foundation, Pamela Berry, presented the oversized check to Leah Brooks, executive director of the YWCA.
Women Artists: A Celebration is an exhibit that showcases the works of female artists ages 18 and older. It opens in June and runs through July. Previous shows have included a wide variety of media that run from paintings, drawings, and photography to ceramics, jewelry and metal work.
At the presentation, Brooks said, "This helps sponsor our event, get the word out to the community to come and see the show." The money raised from the art show will benefit the YW's transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and scattered-site housing programs.
The YW's housing programs provide safe crisis-line help, protective shelter, and support services for battered women and their children. The programs also give assistance to families with disabilities and low income, helping them relocate to independently owned rental units in the Mahoning County.
