Home Savings has 10,000 Holiday Cards for Troops
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The employees of Home Savings and Loan Co. want to send U.S. troops 10,000 holiday postcards in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program sponsored by the Red Cross.
The cards are available at all Home Savings retail branch offices for residents and customers to sign.
Anyone who wants to stop in and write a personal thank-you to the troops for the holidays is welcome to do so. “Our goal is to get all 10,000 of these cards personally signed by people in our communities before Thanksgiving so there will be adequate to time to get them mailed out to our troops who cannot be with their families this holiday season,” says Colleen Scott, vice president of marketing, in a prepared statement. “We invite not only our customers but anyone who wants to send a greeting to our brave troops who fight for our country every day.”
The Holiday Mail for Heroes program would encourage Americans to “Give Something That Means Something” this holiday season, says the Red Cross.
Karen Conklin, executive director of Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley, said the American Red Cross has been serving soldiers since Clara Barton tended the wounded during the Civil War. "We encourage our communities to rally around this important effort," she said in a prepared statement. "I have a son in the Air Force and I know firsthand what a difference this makes to those away from their families. We thank Home Savings and Loan for this corporate wide effort."
With current assets of $1.8 billion, Home Savings operates 33 banking offices and nine loan production offices throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania and has approximately 500 employees.
