Home Sales Show Gains in Mahoning, Columbiana
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Homes sales during March were up from February and a year earlier in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, while Trumbull County sales were down from March 2012. Still, overall sales in the three counties combined were stable comparable to a year earlier and were up from February, reports the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
YCAR reports 177 homes were sold in Mahoning County in March, up from 166 in March 2012 and up from 152 in February. In Columbiana County, 54 units were sold last month, up from 47 in March 2012 and 47 as well in February 2013. In Trumbull County, 137 units were sold in March, up from 107 a month earlier but down from the 151 homes sold in March 2012.
Unit sales in the three counties totaled 368 in March, up slightly from 364 in March 2012 and up markedly from 306 in February.
Dollar volume in Mahoning County totaled $16.2 million during March, up from $15.4 million a year earlier and up from $13.5 million last month. Columbiana’s March volume totaled $4.7 million, up from February’s $4.6 million and from March 2012’s $3.3 million. Trumbull County’s March total, $11.4 million, showed improvement from $7.9 million in February but down from March 2012’s $12.5 million.
The March average sale price in Mahoning County was $91,574, up from $88,824 in February although down slightly from $92,692 in March 2012. The Trumbull County average sale price last month was $83,205, up substantially from $73,467 in February and modestly from March 2012’s $83,028. The March average sale price in Columbiana County of $86,157 was up substantially from $69,923 a year earlier but down from $96,913 in February.
March sale prices ranged between $8,000 and $414,000 in Columbiana County, $1,500 and $770,000 in Mahoning County and $2,500 and $540,000 in Trumbull County.
