Home Sales Up in Area, Despite Dip in Mahoning
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Despite a modest dip in Mahoning County, sales of single family houses in the three-county area were up in June from a year earlier, the latest monthly reports from the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors shows.
Unit sales in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties totaled 460 last month, compared with 445 a year earlier and 413 in May. In May, 211 units houses were sold in Mahoning County, down slightly from 230 in June 2013 although up from 202 in May. In Trumbull County, 168 units were sold during June, up from 153 a year earlier and from May’s 138. Columbiana County’s 81 houses sold in June were up from 62 a year earlier and from 73 in May.
Average sale prices showed gains in both Mahoning and Columbiana counties over the year, while declining in Trumbull.
In Mahoning County, the average sale price last month was $101,605, up from $97,671 a year earlier and up from $90,693 in May. Columbiana County’s average sale price in June was $101,605, compared with $97,671 in June 2013 and May’s $90,693. In Trumbull County, last month’s $89,869 average price was down slightly from $91,131 a year earlier but up from May’s $84,922.
June sale prices in Mahoning County ranged from $750 to $1.1 million. In Trumbull County, the range was $3,000 to $312,000. In Columbiana County, the range was $1,250 to $298,500.
Dollar volume in Mahoning County for June was $24.8 million, down from $25.3 million a year earlier but up from May’s $20.5 million. Trumbull County’s total sales for June hit $15.1 million, up from $13.7 million a year earlier and from May’s $11.7 million. In Columbiana County, June’s total of $8.2 million was up from $6.1 million a year earlier and from $6.6 million in May.
