First National Bank of Orrville to Open in Salem
SALEM, Ohio -- First National Bank, headquartered in Orrville, will open its first full-service office in Columbiana County here in September, Andrew Estock, announces.
Estock, a vice president of the bank, will work out of the Salem office. It will employ six other full-time employees, he said, and be the 15th full-service office in the First National network that has 14 offices in Wayne, Summit, Stark, Medina and Holmes counties.
First National has a residential, commercial and agricultural loan production office at 1070 E. State St., the success of which prompted bank management to acquire the former Society Bank office at 2424 E. State St. and begin renovating it, Estock said.
The property consists of 0.6 acre and a building covering 3,500 square feet, 2,000 of which will be devoted to offices and 1,500 to a four-bay drive-up pavilion that will offer one drive-up window and an ATM.
Inside the offices will be four teller stations, safe deposit boxes, and lending officers who can originate commercial and residential mortgages and commercial and consumer loans as well as accept deposits.
First National has developed an agricultural lending niche as reflected by it being the fastest-growing agricultural lender in Ohio (among banks with more than $10 million in ag loans) last year and seeing its farm-related loan portfolio increase by 130%, Estock says.
The Salem office will serve at least a 25-mile radius and it expects to serve the needs of businesses and farmers as far east as western Pennsylvania.
In a prepared statement, the president and CEO of First National, Mark Witmer, said, “We are excited to have the facility located on the east side of the city where most of the recent development in Salem has taken place. We feel this location will be convenient and will provide a viable community banking alternative for potential and current clients while enabling us to further expand our ag banking presence in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.”
First National Bank, founded in 1881, had $440.8 million in assets at Dec. 31 and 113 employees. It is the sole subsidiary of National Bancshares Corp.
