Auto Insurance Premium in Ohio Below US Average
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The average auto insurance premium of $620 in Ohio remains ninth-lowest in the country, according to the state Department of Insurance.
This follows on the heels of an announcement that Ohioans paid $652 on average for homeowner's insurance premiums, the sixth-lowest in the United States.
Figures are from 2011, the most recent data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
The average national annual premium for auto insurance was $797 while that for the average homeowner policy was $968.
“Having auto and homeowners insurance rates that are among the lowest in the country is a big savings for Ohio consumers,” said Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, also insurance department director. “On average, Ohioans are paying a combined $500 less for their auto and homeowners insurance compared to the national average.”
