Area Housing Sales Show Month-over-Month Gains
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- House sales during March were up from the month before in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, but dipped from the year before, according to the most recent report issued by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
In Mahoning County, 160 houses were sold, notching up from February’s 158 but down from 177 in March 2013. In Trumbull County, 129 houses were sold last month, up nine from 120 in February, although down from 137 a year earlier. In Columbiana County, 47 total units were sold, up from 33 in February but down from 53 during the same month in 2013.
The total value of single-family houses sold in Mahoning County during March was $13.99 million, up from $13.37 million in February but down substantially from March 2013’s $16.21 monthly total. Trumbull’s sales last month hit $8.84 million, down from $9.44 million the month before and from $11.40 million in March 2013. Columbiana’s dollar volume for March, $4.84 million, was up from February’s $3.83 million in February as well as up from $4.65 million in March 2013.
The average unit sale price in Columbiana County during March was $102,866, up from $86,157 a year earlier but down from $116,131 in February. In Mahoning County, the average sale price last month was $87,414, up from $84,601 but down from $91,514 in February 2013. In Trumbull County, the average selling price in March, $68,527, was down from both March 2013’s $83,205 and from February’s $78,635.
Sale prices for March ranged from $9,000 to $304,000 in Columbiana County, from $3,000 to $1 million in Mahoning County, and from $2,000 to $295,000 in Trumbull County.
