Youngstown Plans for Friday Holiday Celebration
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The city will host its annual holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting Friday afternoon downtown.
The festivities will begin with attractions such as roasted chestnuts, live holiday music performances and carriage rides in Central Square beginning at 4:30 p.m. The holiday parade begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the tree lighting and pictures with Santa Claus in 20 Federal Place and horse and carriage rides at 6:30 p.m.
Beginning at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, street parking on East and West Federal Street will be closed to all new traffic and patrons parked there will be notified that any vehicles not moved by 4:14 p.m. will be blocked in until the parade is over. Beginning at 1 p.m., Federal Street from Andrews Avenue to Hazel Street will close as needed for production and infrastructure setup. Although portions may remain open to new traffic after 1 p.m., motorists should expect the street to be closed to vehicular traffic.
Federal Street, excluding the area from Phelps to Champion streets, will reopen to vehicular traffic at 6:30 p.m. and all roadways are scheduled to reopenno later than 10 p.m.
