Youngstown Film Festival Calls for Entries
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown Media Development Inc. is seeking film and video entries for the second annual Youngstown Film Festival that will take place Oct. 11, 12 and 13.
The annual festival, produced by Youngstown Media Development Inc. and director Michele Simonelli, expects to draw a record audience this year as the sponsors anticipate cutting edge independent film and music video. The festival recognizes outstanding student and professional independent cinematic accomplishments.
Major categories for competition are documentary feature, documentary short, horror/science fiction, Experimental Short, Music Video, Ethnic Heritage, Working Class and Worst Movie Ever.
New for this year is the Youth Cuts High School competition, which encourages tomorrow’s filmmakers to create films that explore growing up in Youngstown through the transformative power of film. Whether you regularly upload videos to YouTube or are a first time film maker, we want you to submit your film. It can be a film you already created (as long as it means the criteria) or a new creation. All submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 10 minutes or less in length.
- Must have been completed after June 1, 2012.
- Student entrants must not have graduated before Spring 2013.
- Narratives & documentaries, both live action and animation are encouraged and accepted.
- Entries must be filmed in or around the Greater Youngstown area (Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana counties).
One grand prize winner will receive two all-access fest passes for the festival. The Grand Prize winner will receive a cash award of $250, and four films will be selected as Finalists in the Youth Cuts Competition. Each Finalist will receive two All-Access Fest Passes for the Festival and a cash award of $100.
