YMCA of Youngstown Kicks Off Annual Campaign Jan. 25
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The YMCA of Youngstown will kick off this year’s effort to provide YMCA scholarships for underprivileged children with its Annual Campaign party at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Georgetown in Boardman.
The executive director of the Y, Tim Hilk, invites the public to enjoy an evening that offers a gourmet buffet, silent auction, 50/50 raffle and dancing to live music provided by 2nd Avenue Project.
The Annual Campaign, chaired this year by Thomas Gacse, was established to raise funds to provide financial help to underprivileged youth, families and individuals for Y memberships and/or program fees.
“Every year, the Annual Campaign gives us the opportunity to help thousands in our community,” Gacse said in a prepared statement, adding that 2013 campaign donations totaled more than $550,000 and helped fund more than $1 million in scholarships to nearly 3,000 children, families and individuals.
In addition to money raised through major events such as the kickoff party and a Spin-A-Thon, member and public events and programs held at the Y branches help bring in significant donations, Gacse said. Campaign volunteers will be in the community seeking donations from individuals and businesses.
Tickets to the party are $50 in advance, $75 at the door and can be purchased at the Davis Y in Boardman or the the Central Y downtown.
