WineAmerica Holds Meeting at Geneva on the Lake
WASHINGTON -- Winemakers and trade association executives from across the country are gathered this week at the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake for the fall membership meeting of WineAmerica. The meeting brings together vintners from 15 states and the District of Columbia, who will visit four member wineries.
Wineries to be visited are Lakehouse Inn and Winery, Debonne' Vineyards, Ferrante Winery and Laurello Vineyards as well as the future site of Pairings, Ohio's Wine and Culinary Experience, said Michael Kaiser, director of communications for WineAmerica.
"Every November, WineAmerica visits an important American wine region to learn about the wines and wineries of the region and to conduct important Board business," Kaiser said in a statement.
WineAmerica came into existence as the result of efforts of several industry pioneers who, in the early 1980s, created the Association of American Vintners, which later became WineAmerica. Tony Debevc, owner of Debonne' Vineyards in Madison, Ohio, was elected the first president.
The Ohio Wine Producers' Association, with the help of the Lodge at Geneva, the Ashtabula County Visitors Bureau, Windows on Pairings, Ohio's Wine and Culinary Experince and the wineries of the Grand River Valley coordinated the local tours and tastings as well as some post-event tours for conference participants.
