Wallace, Hripko Take New Posts at NAMII
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, or NAMII, has selected its deputy director of workforce and educational outreach, Darrell Wallace, as its new deputy director of advanced manufacturing enterprise, the organization announced Monday.
Mike Hripko, formerly director of research and economic development at Youngstown State University's STEM College, was named the new outreach director to fill Wallace's post.
"I want to first recognize Darrell for all his workforce and education contributions and his dedication to our mission," said NAMII Director Ed Morris, also the vice president for the Latrobe, Pa.-based National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, or NCDMM, under which NAMII is managed.
NAMII, which is being re-branded as "America Makes," is based here and was created as a private-public partnership between the federal government, industry and academia to spur advanced research in additive manufacturing. The organization is the pilot program.
"I am also very pleased to welcome Mike to the America Makes and NCDMM team," Morris added. "As a result of his previous role with YSU, Mike is very familiar with the work of America Makes and has been supportive of our goals."
Ralph Resnick, NCDMM president and America Makes founding director, also extended his congratulations to Wallace and Hripko.
"I am very proud of how the NCDMM family continues to evolve, as well as grow, not only in numbers but in quality members," he said. "I want to thank Darrell for all of his accomplishments to date and for agreeing to move to a new and exciting role within America Makes. I cannot think of anyone more knowledgeable for the demanding position of deputy director of AME.
"As for Mike, it truly feels like he has already been a member of our team since he has been so supportive of America Makes from our very first Youngstown encounter," Resnick continued. "I am confident that Mike will distinguish himself in his role as the new deputy director of workforce and educational outreach and help America Makes achieve its goal of creating an adaptive, leading U.S. workforce in additive manufacturing."
