Venture Plastics Honored by PolymerOhio Edison Center
NEWTON FALLS -- PolymerOhio, one of six state Edison Technology Centers, has presented a Crystal Award for Excellence to Venture Plastics Inc. based on its advances in manufacturing technology, company growth and increased competitiveness.
The president of Venture Plastics, Steve Trapp, received the recognition in late March from Joe Jacomet, president of PolymerOhio, at the statehouse in Columbus.
In accepting the award, Trapp said his company “has benefited greatly from our relationship with PolymerOhio. … For more than 40 years we have focused on controlled, measured and diversified growth. PolymerOhio has understood and encouraged the strategic direction taken by Venture Plastics Inc.”
Venture Plastics, with a 45,000-square-foot plant at 4000 Warren Road and a 48,000-square-foot operation in El Paso, Texas, offers its customers engineering and design support, injection and structural foam molding, over-molding, insert molding, gas-assisted molding, plating, assembly and welding, among other products and services.
As the Great Recession was drawing to a close, Venture Plastics determined it would spend $1.5 million on an injection molding press, a more energy-efficient water-cooling system and a new materials-processing system, Trapp says.
The materials-procession system has allowed Venture Plastics much better control over the quality of the plastics its presses turn out. Only 10% of all plastics injections companies have RJT technology that allows the high level of quality control, Trapp said, one result being far less waste.
That, in turn, led to record sales in 2012, more than $30 million, and 9% growth, Trapp says. PolymerOhio saw the improved quality and company growth, which led to it nominating Venture Plastics for the Crystal Award.
Venture Plastics is a full-service ISO/TS-16949 certified customer thermoplastic injection molder.
