VEC’s Ferry Honored by National Electrical Contractors
GIRARD, Ohio -- Rex Ferry, owner and CEO of VEC Inc., was presented the National Electrical Contractors Association’s James Robert “Bob” Pritchard Electrical Industry Award at a recent recognition ceremony in Youngstown. The award recognizes an individual in District 2 who has advanced the electrical contracting industry in an extraordinary manner.
A delegation of officials from NECA headquarters in Washington, D.C., including CEO John Grau, presented the award. District 2 is composed of Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
Ferry began his career as an electrician apprentice with Local 573 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Warren and worked in all areas of the electrical industry before purchasing VEC in 1990. He’s served in numerous NECA capacities throughout his career, including a three-year term as president of the association from 2009 to 2011.
“Rex Ferry could not be more deserving of this or any other award NECA could find to bestow on him. His career is that distinguished,” said Jeff Barber, vice president and principal at VEC, in a prepared statement. “He’s not only been a mentor and inspiration to me throughout my career, but to virtually everyone who’s had the opportunity to work with him.”
VEC is the parent of Valley Electrical and Evets Oil & Gas, both NECA-IBEW member contractors.
The Mahoning Valley chapter of NECA, founded in 2004, is the only chapter with repeat winners of the Pritchard Award. Joe Dickey Electric’s Joe Dickey Jr. won the award in 2006.
