Portage Precision Polymers Wins Evolution of Manufacturing Award
MOGADORE, Ohio -- Portage Precision Polymers Inc. has been awarded a 2014 Evolution of Manufacturing Award by Smart Business Magazine. PPP’s rubber and elastomeric compound manufacturing operations here have significantly evolved since its 2002 founding, from obtaining ISO certification to installing a new 270-liter mixer to double its mixing capacity.
“There has been a lot of growth and improvement over the last couple of years," said Erick Sharp, director of operations. "Those enhancements are only the start of even greater things to come for our team at PPP. It is an honor for us to be a member of the Evolution of Manufacturing 2014 class.”
The privately owned company supplies custom-mixed elastomer compounds to rubber and silicone manufacturing companies throughout North America serving industries such as construction, agriculture, railroad, oil and gas, automotive and piping.
Also recently, PPP celebrated the opening of its new silicone custom-mixing facility here, which will allow the company to serve customers in silicone manufacturing markets nationwide, Sharp said. These advancements have had an impact on operations, employment, product mix and sales, and have allowed PPP to adapt to the global economy, said Douglas N. Hartley, president and CEO.
“We continue to invest in equipment and personnel for future growth and the long-term financial health of our organization," he commented. "I am very excited about our progress to date and look forward to expanding our plans into the future.”
Other members of the management team are Scott Bonnette, vice president of finance, John Truitt, director of sales and marketing, and George Stamper, technical director.
PPP and nine other winners, along with three honorable mentions, will be honored at the Evolution of Manufacturing conference tomorrow at Cuyahoga Community College’s Advanced Technology Training Center.
