PolishYoungstown Seeks Volunteers for Heritage Days
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Preparations are under way for the fifth annual Polish Heritage Days Aug. 23 to 25, says Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer, director of PolishYoungstown.
Average attendance at the first four was 1,200, she relates.
The main events are scheduled for the Saxon Club on South Meridian Road, she says. The weekend will celebrate all things Polish: Polish cuisine, folk art, the Polish language and culture, Heschmeyer says.
Helping to celebrate are two polka bands and performances by Living Traditions Folk Ensemble.
PolishYoungstown is seeking volunteers to work three-hour shifts for everything from ticket sales to helping out with cultural workshops to selling bakery and food items, Heschmeyer says. Three-hour shifts are available; every volunteer gets free admission and bottled cold water, and the first 50 volunteers will receive free Polish Day T-shirts.
Arts, crafts and food vendors are sought to participate in the Marketplace tent.
Volunteer forms, event applications and more information on the event are available at this website.
