'Our Valley Cooks' Features Food Network's Mauro
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO -- Meridian Community Care will present its annual Our Valley Cooks event March 24 at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman. More than 50 exhibitors from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania will highlight their unique products.
Cooking demonstrations will be given by local businesses and Jeff Mauro of the Food Network, this year’s celebrity chef. Mauro is known for raising sandwich making to an art form, with the ability to turn any sandwich into a meal and any meal into a sandwich.
In a rematch of their confrontation from last year’s Our Valley Cooks, state Sens. Capri Cafaro and Joe Schiavoni will go head-to-head in another cooking competition, this time aided by prominent local chefs, said Renee Amacher, marketing and development coordinator at Meridian. Another chef competition will pit Danny Catullo of Catullo’s Prime Meats against Mark Canzonetta of the Culinary Arts Cooking School.
All proceeds from Our Valley Cooks will benefit Meridian’s prevention programs, which seek to stem the tide of alcohol and drug addiction by working with young people to stop this behavior before it starts.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit OurValleyCooks.org.
