Oh Wow! Children's Center Celebrates 100,000th Visitor
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology celebrated the arrival of its 100,000th visitor Monday.
Shannon Andre of Liberty and her children -- Kara, 6, Kaitlyn, 4, and Jason, 2 -- were showered in paper confetti and scarves from the Windy Pipes exhibit. The Andre family, longtime members of the museum, were the 100,000th, 100,001st, 100,002nd and 100,003rd visitors.
“It’s great to celebrate this exciting milestone with Oh Wow!,” Andre said. The hands-on activities and opportunities to learn in a fun environment are what keep the family coming back time and time again, she added.
“Every explorer who comes through our door is important, and we look forward to innovative thinking and encouraging experimentation to many more learners of all ages as we grow in this community,” said Suzanne Barbati, president and executive director.
The center, which will celebrate its third anniversary this May, will offer its second Wow! After Hours adult-only program Feb. 27, and launch its first Youngstown Regional Science & Technology Festival this September.
“Oh Wow! is a wonderful community resource and we look forward to being around when they reach visitor number 200,000 and beyond,” Andre said.
